I love you!

A million and one ways to say I love you
But none seems to suit you.

I’d go down on my knees for you,
But that’s too cliched.
You deserve something more intricate,
Something original, just as you are.

I’d promise you a life time,
But that would be the greatest lie.
For neither you nor I,
Know what the future holds.

I’d say I’ll keep you happy,
But I’ve let you down too many times.
And as much as I’d try,
I’d don’t trust myself.

I’d say you’re the reason I smile,
But you’re also the reason I cry.
You’ve hurt me like no one else,
We’ve had good days and bad days.

I’d write you a poetry,
But words are too less to describe you.
I’d give you a bouquet of roses,
But that would just dry away.

So darling, can you just read my eyes?
Hear the words unsaid & feelings unexpressed.

  6. I used to teach English as a Second Language sometimes. I would occasionally ask these brilliant ESL students of mine to write poetry in English. I say brilliant for several reasons. One is that they could speak and often write in two or more languages. Another is that they had often arrived in my English speaking country from a life of trial, yet they were often the most affectionate and respectful students one could ask for. But one thing I noticed also was that when they wrote ESL poems, they wrote from the heart, even when they accidentally broke a few rules of grammar. They knew in their hearts what they wanted to write and they wrote it in a way that was a unique blend of their original culture with English, as you do above. It is evident in all I have seen so far of your poetry that you have a very big heart and you trust deeply in the power of love. That probably means you feel pain and heartache a great deal too. Another key to your skill is your love of reading, which I was able to see expressed in another poem on your blog. You just need to carry on writing and reading and helping your family and friends as much as you can, when you are not being personally creative! How lucky are your family and friends to have you around. Even when you break little rules of grammar, as in the poem above, I would not change a thing. They are you. And that, my dear, is a beautiful, young woman indeed. If you want to teach me another language, try. But, you know what? I would take forever. Come visit me anytime my friend. Xavier
