The Call Of The Sea

Poetry, Writer life

I stood on the seashore,
Enjoying the cool breeze,
Gentle waves hitting my toes,
As if calling to my soul.

The whole experience was ethereal,
And I’m not talking about the beauty.
Something stirred within me,
The sea was calling me.

I was captivated right there,
The serenity enveloped me,
Called me to walk towards it,
Be one with the sea.

I was in a trance,
Walking deeper into it,
Half my body submerged,
It felt like going home.

The world around me disappeared,
It was only me and the sea;
The gentle wave and the cool breeze,
Said that’s where I’m supposed to be.

Then I felt a firm hand grab me,
Pulling me out of the sea,
Breaking that captivating trance.
Damn! That was scary!

  1. This was captivating and ethereal. I could feel everything you described. The trance like call of the sea that cannot be refused makes for a dramatic tone, and your words weave a story that the reader must follow to the end. Well written, little one! ❤💕😘

  2. Great twist at the end.

The poem starts out beautiful, romantic and meditative.

And then the hand grabs the narrator from the sea.

And was the hand possibly one’s mischievous nephew …. or a serial killer with a chainsaw waiting on the beach?

It’s left up to the reader to imagine.

  3. Hey this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
